Naked Came the Florida Man is the twenty-third Serge Storms novel by Tim Dorsey. It is also one of his most focused and linear efforts. This one is sure to please Dorsey fans and make him new ones.

There are two parallel stories in Naked Came the Florida Man. The first is the usual story of Serge and Coleman giving the reader a historical and factual tour of little known Florida Factoids. These focus on author Zora Neal Hurston, Stetson Kennedy, the Clewiston Inn, and a small town where all the buildings have a mural.

The second is about Chris, a young girl living with her grandmother and trying to make a few bucks chasing rabbits. This is the more interesting and complete story of the two. It is as if Tim Dorsey tried to write a kid’s novel and then decided to incorporate in into Naked Came the Florida Man. Chris’ dream is to make the Pahokee football team and she does after many efforts and obstacles.

Serge, of course, encounters people who deserve his wrath. The body count in this twenty-third Sderge Storms novel is only 4 but the method of execution are top notch. The best involves the use of screwworms on a guy who swindled a couple out of their home.

Interesting Florida factoids and parallel stories that work well together make for a very satisfying lightweight read.
