Fair warning (something The Killing did not give the viewers): You are not going to find out Who Killed Rosie Larsen until the end of season 2, or so the producers say. This takes much of the interest away from what could have been a good mystery TV show. The Killing is interesting, well-acted, and visually gorgeous but never enough to make it worth sitting through two seasons and twenty-six episodes.
The Killing: Who Killed Rosie Larsen? Season One features 13 episodes on 4 DVD or 3 Blu-ray discs. This covers the first two weeks of the investigation.
Those familiar with the drawn-out whodunit format, think Pretty Little Liars or Twin Peaks, know each episode of The Killing features the suspect of the week, the clue of the week, and the weekly dirty little secret about the victim.
For example, it is not much of a spoiler to reveal that Rosie Larsen who was daddy’s little girl was also a prostitute. Isn’t that always the case in this kind of show?
There is a lot to recommend about The Killing. Detective Sarah Linden is quite fascinating a character and Mireille Enos is excellent in the part. Her partner (played by Joel Kinnaman) is not your usual sidekick. The Larsens are also solid characters.
The thing is though one season and thirteen episodes and no closure until the end of season two? No show is that good and The Killing: Who Killed Rosie Larsen is not.
